Sophie H of Birchwood Cub pack was the sole representative of the group at this year's 'Jamboree on the internet' event, taking place at Freman College, Buntingford, on 22nd October, and hosted by the Hertfordshire International Scouting team. New Beaver leaders join in the fun
This term both Thumpers and Conkers Beaver colony welcomed new parent leaders to their group. Mark Fuller (aka Husky) and Pawel Kukulka (aka Polar Bear) joined Thumpers, and Gillian Williams (aka Snowy Owl) joined Conkers, returning to the group after being an Explorer herself many years ago. Cyclocross Adventures
On 8th October Wolf and Birchwood cub packs entered the district Cyclocross event held at Well End Activity Centre. Wolf entered for the second year running, this time with two teams made up of: Team 1: Christian G, Sebastian N, Samuel S Team 2: Shea F, Joseph G, Imogen H Birchwood entered for the first time, with one team made up of Sophie H, Thomas M, Vyom C, Mateusz W. Come on you cubs!
Both Birchwood and Wolf cub packs came together to join the District 6 a side football competition held at Highfield Park on 7th October. During a series of 5-minute games, Birchwood lost 2 games, drew 1 game, and won a game, eventually losing out on 2nd place by just 1 point. Wolf pack players played very well, finishing 3rd in their pool. Well done to both teams, a particularly impressive feat as the majority of players were 8-9 years old. Conkers beavers brave the tigers
On Sunday 1st October, 13 Beavers from Conkers pack with their parents and siblings joined us for a day out at Paradise Wildlife Park. It was a thoroughly enjoyable family day, taking in the many animals in the park, as well as a scavenger hunt looking for leaves and insects around the park, and a bird show.
