End of an Era

One of 1stPark Street's long-standing Beaver Scout and now Cub Leader of Birchwood pack Leida Smith AKA Bagheera had her last meeting as a Cub leader of Birchwood on the 30th March before moving with her family to Cornwall to start their next big adventure.

Leida joined nearly 5 years ago alongside Christopher Holliss, David Kelly & Stuart Rowland to keep Thumpers Beaver colony open, then moving up to do the same with the then only Cub pack Birchwood two and a half years ago.

She has been an outstanding leader for both sections that she has helped to run but has also contributed so much to the other sections within the group allowing many of our children to enjoy a wide variety of exciting activities.

A presentation of a group gift and a short speech was given by Niki Dunn GSL followed by an emotional speech by Christopher Holliss – Akela – who described the friendship and admiration he felt for Leida following all her efforts for the group and the children over the years.

Leida was a hugely positive and outstanding member of the Group and will be missed by everyone at 1st Park Street Scouts. We wish her and her family all the very best of luck in their new life by the sea, and no doubt she will be applying her talents to a Cornish Scouting Group in no time!
