1st Park Scouts

Who We Are

The Scout Section is for boys and girls, aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person can join a Scout Troop from 10 and may stay until they are 14½ years old. The Scout section is the third and final Section within the 1st Park Street Scout Group.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. "Participation" rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for their achievements there are a number of Challenge Awards and Activity Badges.

Being outdoors is an important part of the Programme, focusing on both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to yachting.

SETTING A CLEAR PATH TO ADULTHOOD

It's exciting being involved with us as adventure is at the heart of everything we do here at 1st Park Street. It is the single most important thing that sets Scouts and our group apart.

We believe that through the everyday adventure of Scouting, young people, along with their adult volunteers, regularly experience new challenges that enrich their lives while meeting life long friends.

What We Offer

1st Park Street Scouts offers the opportunity for children within the local area and from whatever background to carry on or to start their scouting adventure within a fun and friendly group.

Our group presently has one troop of between 24 up to a maximum of 28 Scouts.

Colne Scout Troop
Thursdays - 7:30pm till 9pm

The troop are divided into 4  'Patrols' to which the members of each Patrol wear a different Patrol badges such as Wolves, Panthers, Falcons etc..

Each Patrol has a 'Sixer' or Patrol leader who is the head Scout of that Patrol and a Seconder who is their deputy and they are recognizable by their special badges worn on their right arm to show their position. This is a very prestigious position to hold and carries with it responsibilities and so Scouts are chosen not only on age but ability.

We offer many varied activities, as diverse as;

  • abseiling

  • shooting

  • scuba diving

  • sailing

  • kayaking

  • archery

  • camping

  • district swimming gala

There’s something for every young person, whatever their physical ability.
