Group leaders awarded archery instructor qualifications

Congratulations to our group GSL Chris Holliss, and Birchwood Cub pack leader Lorraine Bullock, for earning their archery instructor qualifications last month.
The Archery GB Instructor Award is an entry-level training course that prepares learners to deliver fun and safe introductory sessions for beginners both able bodied or not.
Both Lorraine and Chris undertook a 2-day course to gain their qualification, giving up their own time over a weekend to learn key archery instruction skills including:
How to shoot arrows
How to prepare and deliver mini sessions
How to select appropriate equipment
How to set up a range
How to ensure safety on the range
1st Park Street funded the training as part of its commitment to leader training, with a view to offering group members access to high quality and enjoyable experiences. Lorraine and Chris both look forward to using their newfound skills to teach cubs, scouts and beavers some impressive archery skills over the coming months and years.
