A swimming success for Park Street

Cubs, scouts, leaders and parents all enjoyed a fantastic evening at the St. Albans District Cubs and Scouts swimming gala held at Westminster lodge on Saturday 30th January. Competing Cubs and Scouts showed great skill and determination, cheered on by their peers and parents, with many taking first and second place in their respective races.

Birchwood Cubs swam to victory as their super-speedy swimming times rewarded them this year’s trophy for the first time in the group’s history. The Under 12s Scouts impressive performance meant they came a very close second to the 4th St. Albans pack who took first place with 18 points to our 12.

We’re very proud of all the participating group’s members who swam well both in their independent races and in the relays, many taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, well done to you all for your hard work and determination, and for showing great team spirit on the night.

A special mention to the following swimmers whose winning efforts helped us secure the 1st and 2nd placings:

Finalists were: Toby Trewin – Freestyle & Relay “Winner”, Megan Mehar – BackStroke & Relay “Winner”, Thomas Dimyblow – Backstroke, Daniel Holliss – Breaststroke & Relay “Winner”, Amy Threader – Backstroke, Wes Hilton, Gracie Gibbins, Lewis Durkin – Relay

Scouts U12:

Finalist were: Katie Knight - Freestyle & Relay, Benjamin Mehar – Backstroke & Relay, Kara - Breaststroke “Winner” & Relay.

The trophy will be proudly displayed at the Scout hut for all to see. Keep up the swimming practise everyone and we look forward to retaining our title and going for the Scout trophys in 2017!
